The next few weeks are going to be filled with a lot of packing, unpacking, a new city, a new roomie, and a new job! Although I am so nervous about my big life change and being financially responsible for myself, I am quite excited about decorating my new space. There’s something different about your first place on your own that you are 100% responsible. I will be moving to a apartment building about a mile from Downtown Denver. Although it is not smack-dab in the middle of downtown (as a recent graduate who has the money for that?), I am probably a 15 minute walking distance to downtown or just a $5 uber ride. My apartment is a two bedroom two bathroom 950 square feet unit! I found my roommate on Craigslist and we seem perfect for each other so I will definitely be doing a post in the future on how to find a roommate when you move to a city where you know no one. Since we signed our lease, I have had fun visualizing and of course pinning ideas for my new space. Below is my apartment decor inspiration board with key staples I want for my new place:
Gallery Wall: I have been obsessing over gallery walls that I have seen on the internet. But as a girl on a budget, I have been searching for a cost effective alternative to pricey gallery walls. On Etsy, there are so many talented individuals who make adorable prints for a great price. After looking through prints, I realized ‘hey I can make these too!’ So I created an Etsy shop and started designing! Check out some of my prints HERE. Heads up: it is cheaper if you print them off yourself. You can opt to download the quote/illustration and print it at your home. The prints I am selling are $2 or less! Once I either create prints or purchase from another seller, Target has simple/inexpensive frames that work perfectly. I plan on heading to Marshalls to find a wood sign like the “Love Lives Here” sign on my inspo-board to add a different texture to my board.
Full-length selfie mirror: Okay, I’ll admit it. I want a full-length mirror for my room so I can take some OOTD Instagram pics. Sorry not sorry #bloggerprobs. Selfies aside, it is also nice to have a full-length mirror so I can look at my entire outfit before I go out. Nothing is more awkward than standing on a chair to see what your pants look like in your bathroom mirror.
Inexpensive mirror options: HERE // HERE
Throw pillows: I love Kate Spade throw pillows and plan on eventually purchasing one or two of these pricey pieces of fabric and cotton. If I don’t get those exact pillows on my board, Target and Marshalls have pretty good priced throw pillows that I will purchase for my bed. Okay is it just me, or are throw pillows insanely overpriced?
Blush pink decor: I plan on the color scheme for my room to be blush pink so I am bringing a couple decor items like candles and fake flowers from my house to my new place. I can’t wait to pick out a couple extra knick-knacks for my space to give it a more homey and put-together feel.
It hasn’t really hit me yet that I am moving from home for good. When I went away to college it wasn’t the same because I was always coming home for breaks and being away felt very temporary. Although my home where my family is will still be considered home for a long time, I am excited to make the change and begin my life in Colorado! I hope my decor inspo-board helped you get inspired to redecorate your space or get excited to move into a place of your own.
Don’t forget to check out the prints I am selling on my Etsy shop!

I love having a full-length mirror! Mine is really huge and won’t fit in the bedroom so I’ve got it in my front entryway. I love being able to check my outfit right before stepping out the door.

Sounds like a great wishlist. I feel your #BloggerProblems too. The one full length mirror in the house is in the darkest corner of the house, which just doesn’t cut it #GoodLightingAMust

I love this! I did this last year, and it was crazy! I found that decorating a home costs A LOT of money, so do save wherever you can. I should have gotten a roommate to save on rent, but I do like living alone because it gives me a lot more space and freedom. Best of luck with everything!
