Trust me, it can be hard to love the skin you’re in when you’re surrounded by fixed ideas of beauty. The media has slowly started to embrace diversity in beauty standards over recent years (which I LOVE), but there’s still a long way to go. Millions of women (and men) still feel self-conscious about their appearance. Whether it’s the shape of your body or the blemishes on your skin, you most likely lack confidence when it comes to some aspect of the way you look. But that shouldn’t be the case. In this Miss Olivia Says post, we’re going to talk about skincare and loving your body again.
You need to look after your body.
This is an obvious piece of advice, but it’s one that many of us neglect in the hustle and bustle of our day to day lives. If you’re not happy with the appearance of your skin then one thing you can d improving your physical health. Do you drink enough water? Hydration is essential to keeping your body healthy and maintaining your skin’s healthy glow. Of course, if you’re struggling to keep your skin healthily hydrated simply by drinking a lot of water then you could start moisturizing; we’ve talked about some great options on this site before. It is also important to eat well even if you have a busy life. Improving your health on the inside will improve the way you look on the outside. Additionally, by practicing health eating, that can help to clear up acne and other skin problems.
Rethink your beauty regime.
If you’re still not happy with the appearance of your skin even with a healthy routine, you can evaluate your beauty regime. Most of the time, blemishes emerge as the result of irritated skin. Many of us panic about having perfect skin and we overload ourselves with an obscene number of cosmetic products in order to conceal our skin (I know I am guilty of this). Or perhaps you simply use a lot of products to enhance the appearance of your skin. The point is that it’s fine to use cosmetic products to give you an appearance that makes you confident, but you need to get the balance right to ensure you are not overloading your skin.
Using products with too many toxins can cause skin problems. That’s why you might want to rethink the products you use as part of your skincare regime if you’re still having problems with blemishes. You can check out sites such as FaceSerum.com for advice and reviews regarding the best face serums out there. There are a lot of products that could help with your facial routine, but you need to make sure that you use serums which are going to soothe your skin rather than damage it further. Of course, we all have unique requirements when it comes to our skin. Sometimes, it’s a matter of trial and error.
It all comes down to your mental state.
Whilst we like to talk about great beauty products that you can use on this site, it’s important to remember that your mental state has a huge impact on your appearance. You should make it a part of your skincare routine to focus on your mental health. After all, stress and anxiety can lead to acne and other blemishes developing. We talked about looking after your physical health earlier, and that’s part of it too; your physical state affects your mental state. As suggested at doyouyoga.com try being kinder to yourself. When you next look in the mirror and see spots, you need to remind yourself that they’ll be gone soon if you just keep looking after yourself physically and mentally. Break the negative cycle, and start loving the skin you’re in. Once you improve your mental state, your skin quality will improve too. Your physical health affects your mental health, but that goes both ways.
