Don’t get me wrong, I love dressing up and wearing fun outfits, but sometimes I just want to be comfy. Sometimes squeezing into something uncomfortable for the sake of looking good, is the last thing I want to do. If you are like me, you’re probably most comfortable when you’re in your pajamas or slouched on your sofa in yoga pants and your oldest T-shirt. It might be fine when you’re at home, but you want to look a little more presentable when you go out in public. So I wanted to share my tips for dressing comfortable without looking sloppy.
Get Some Shape in Your Outfit
A lot of comfortable clothing items completely lack shape. They’re tend to be baggy and engulf your body. A huge hoodie is great to snuggle into but that doesn’t mean you want to wear one on a night out. You can still wear comfy clothes while making sure your outfit has some structure. You can opt for close-fitting clothes, like leggings, which are flexible and shapely but also comfy. You can also just look at the shape of the items you choose. A long-line cardigan can give you a great shape but it’s still super comfortable to wear.
Choose Jeans That Fit
Jeans are one of the best comfortable, go-to fashion items that pretty much everyone owns. Jeans aren’t just jeans, either. They come in so many different styles and colors that you can have a pair of jeans for every occasion. Your most casual jeans might be rather loose and shapeless. And then your skinny jeans aren’t that fun to wear when you are feeling bloated. I recommend purchasing a pair of Wrangler jeans that fit you well, without being restricting. Choose your jeans carefully to find the right ones for you. You have plenty of options, from high-waisted to jeggings.
Accessorize
Adding some accessories to your outfit can make a big difference to dress up a casual look. You can start off with an oversized sweater and a pair of jeans, looking comfy and casual, and immediately make it smarter with a necklace and the right pair of shoes. Add a scarf, a purse or a belt to your outfit to elevate it from looking plain and homely. Choose your accessories carefully to make sure they have the desired effect on your outfit.
Mix Smart and Casual
Combine stylish and casual elements to create an outfit that looks fashionable but still feels completely comfortable. The right accessories will help you to do this, but you can also choose smart pieces of clothing to balance out your comfier choices. A faux leather jacket over a T-shirt can make it look a lot more sophisticated, without compromising on comfort. A pair of jeans can look very great while still feeling comfortable and not restricting movement in any way.
I believe you can still feel comfortable and look good at the same time. If you don’t want to be adjusting your clothes all day, plan an outfit that gives you the freedom to move while still looking stylish.
