Fashion is a form of expression, and expression shows the world who you are. If you’re dressing like everyone else, then you’re not letting anyone else see your personality, your inner side. If you want to find your own style, I am here to share 5 tips that will hopefully help express yourself!
Reimagine Your Wardrobe
Just because you’re taking your fashion in a new direction, that doesn’t mean that you need to throw away all your existing clothes. But it might mean that you need to get creative. You don’t have to be a master tailor to create clothes; indeed, there are plenty of easy clothes DIY projects that anyone can do. In any case, you’ve got nothing to lose by trying to go in a new direction with the clothes you currently have – so get creative and explore YouTube for fun ways to re-image your current clothes.
Check Where You’re Buying From
It’s hard to find a unique style if all the clothes you buy come from the most popular shops at the mall. As nice as the items might be, there’ll be hundreds of other people who always own and wear the same item. Instead, look at shopping at online women’s clothing boutiques. I love finding new boutiques that carry a lot more unique items. Plus, the quality of clothes from boutique stores is usually higher than in regular stores, so you’ll look better, too!
Inspiration All Around
When you’re trying t find a style, it’s important to remember that you’re not going to find anything truly unique. You’re not reinventing the wheel here! As such, it’s a good idea to draw inspiration from as many different sources as possible. Most people only go with what’s popular in mainstream culture, but there are dozens of subcultures that bring their own fashion quirks to the party. Take a look at what you like, what you don’t like, and incorporate them into your blossoming style.
Play Around With Accessories
Of course, clothes should only be your starting point when it comes to your style. Sometimes, the most notable additions to your style aren’t clothes at all – they’re accessories. Take a look at adding jewelry, hats, scarfs, and other additions that’ll bring a touch of color and uniqueness to your outfit.
Be Bold!
Finally, remember that no-one did anything unique by sitting on the sidelines. If you’re going to do something, then be bold. Play around with your style, experiment, and see what you like. All the most interesting fashion icons are forever playing around with their look, and so should you. If you do, you’ll have your own way of approaching fashion!
