I am back with another one of my “Quick Tips” series blog posts. Is there anything worse than when someone tells you that you look tired? Whenever someone has said that to me it makes me feel like I look like I just rolled out of bed. I even start to question how good my makeup skills are if I can’t even mask the signs of tiredness!
Unfortunately, sometimes makeup just isn’t enough in hiding tiredness. You might need to go to some extra measures to combat your tiredness. I have complied a couple of tips that can help you look awake on the outside no matter how tired you may feel on the inside!
Get A Good Night’s Sleep
Easier said than done, but the best way to look more awake is to not be tired in the first place. It is always important that you try and get enough sleep each and every night. For most people, this means getting at least seven hours each night. During the summer it is harder to get to bed at a decent time when there are a lot more fun things to do during the workweek. However, if you make an effort to get to bed at a decent time, once you wake up you will feel a lot more refreshed and you will minimize the chances of having puffy tired eyes.
Use Eye Cream
I recommend finding a reasonably priced eye cream that gives noticeable results. Most eye creams need to be applied before you go to bed every night. They will then work their magic through the night, ensuring the skin around your eyes is smooth and not at all puffy. A lot of these eye creams can also help minimize the appearance of wrinkles and age lines.
Add Some Eyeliner
Wearing some eyeliner can make a big difference as well. If you run a navy eyeliner pencil on the inside of your upper and lower lids, you will find that your eyes instantly perk up. This dark blue will help your eyes feel a lot lighter and more open, but without all the heaviness that black eyeliner can bring. White eyeliner can also work wonders as well.
Alternate The Water Temperature In Your Shower
If you have a shower first thing in the morning, you should start alternating the temperature of the water. Give yourself a quick blast of hot water before a short blast of a colder temperature. The quick changes in temperature will give your body’s circulation system a boost, which will flush more blood to your face, adding some much-needed color to your skin.
Focus On Your Lips
If you are super tired and feel like no amount of makeup or eye cream is going to wake your face up, there is still something you can try – just make sure your lips are looking amazing! Apply a bright red lipstick so that all eyes are instantly drawn to them. This way, everyone’s attention will be on your lips, and they won’t be so focused on your tired eyes. You might want to add some lip liner for an even more dramatic lip.
As you can see, there are a few things you can do to beat your tiredness!
xoxo
