I’m the kind of person who would rather overpack rather than packing just enough to make it through a trip. My husband and I are off to Fiji in just under a week, and after overpacking way too much when we went to Costa Rica, I decided I wanted to plan my outfits for this trip. I want to be smart this time around and instead of packing 5 pairs of denim shorts, that I only would wear for a couple hours at a time, I am planning on only packing 1-2 pairs of shorts and bringing enough tops to switch things up. When you are in a tropical destination, half the time you’re wearing a swimsuit so bringing a ton of clothes doesn’t make sense and you risk having an oversized suitcase.
In today’s post, I am sharing how I am styling a pair of 3″ denim shorts I got from Old Navy (only $24.99).
I think packing for a beach trip is 100x easier than a wintery mountain destination. You need less clothes, and you can fit more outfits and accessories in your suitcase.
This first outfit is one of my favorites. I recently picked up this coral floral tube top from Forever 21 for $12.90. I think that is such a steal for something I probably won’t wear too often outside this trip. Why pay $30+ for a similar piece from other retailers? These Roolee sandals are also featured in each outfit and are perfect for a tropical destination. I love that they are sturdy, high quality, and were only $34.99. I think investing in a good sandal is important for the spring/summer months. Side note, if you haven’t heard of Roolee, definitely check out the online store! They have such cute footwear and clothing, I am obsessed!
This next top is from Target and I got it around September/October when their summer clothes were on clearance. I think I picked this piece up for less than $10! It is such a cute and airy tank that is perfect for warm climates. The sunglasses are from Dualens and scrunchie is from Forever 21! I recently picked up a couple of these scrunchies from Forever 21 and they are pretty good quality. I have seen similar overpriced scrunchies from other retailers and I simply cannot justify spending more than $10 for a hair tie.
This last top is from Forever 21 and is also super airy and light. It is a bit sheer, so I often wear a nude tank underneath, but would be perfect paired with a bikini top in Fiji! The red and white stripped scrunchie is also from Forever 21!
Random thought, I have a handful of Forever 21 items in this post and while I love the price and quality of some of their items I have had terrible customer service from them recently. I have placed two online orders in the past month and BOTH have been lost in transit. Forever 21 ships via Ontrac to your local USPS office and in both situations the Ontrac status states it handed off the package to USPS, while the USPS status states awaiting handoff from shipping partner. Forever 21 customer service has been absolutely terrible in fixing this issue! I ended up getting a refund on the first order, but they are making me wait 15 days since shipping date to fill out a lost order form even though I am sending them proof from USPS and Ontrac that it is lost. Definitely not going to be ordering online from them again. Anyway, rant over!
Now back to the point of this post, let me know your thoughts on the outfits I styled above! Plus, stay tuned because I am thinking about doing a What I am Packing for Fiji YouTube video and vlogs throughout our trip!
