Here in Colorado we have had no shortage of snow this winter season. It started in October and has been fairly consistent with February snowing 12 of the 20 days so far. Although I have only lived here for 4 years, from what I hear that is pretty unusual. Don’t get me wrong, I do love the holiday season, but each winter I find myself getting antsy… especially in the January-March months.
It gets dark early and it is too chilly to do anything outside in the evenings, so I find myself watching a lot of reality TV after work (thank you, Bravo!). On the plus side, Colorado does get around 300 days of sunshine a year, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t cold. Besides complaining about the snow and winter months, I actually have a point to this post. I am sharing my current favorites that I have been loving this winter.
What I am Watching: Thankfully this time of year there are no shortage of tv shows, Netflix series and movies at the theatre. A few of my reality tv favorites (no shame) are Siesta Key, Below Deck, Summer House, Floribama Shore, and Vanderpump Rules. When I am watching tv with my husband because he doesn’t share the same appreciation of the reality tv world, we have been enjoying This is Us, A Million Little Things, 9-11 and Criminal Minds re-runs. On Netflix, I loved the Cheer documentary, YOU, and To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You was pretty cute… just not as good as the first one. My husband and I also have the AMC Movie Pass so we can go to up to 3 movies each a week for around $21/month. We definitely don’t go to that many, but we love to do dinner and a movie. Last weekend we saw Fantasy Island, which was meh. But what is great about the movie pass is even when we see a dud, we don’t feel as guilty because normal movie tickets for a weekend evening showing would be $17+ each.
My Favorite Music/Podcasts: Now that I am 100% remote, I find myself listening to a lot more podcasts. Of course my go to is The Morning Toast, but I also have been enjoying Crime Junkie. As fo music, I listen to a lot of country and find myself in the Made for You section of Spotify. If you have any podcast recommendations, be sure to comment them down below!
What I am Reading: When I went on a work trip last month, I downloaded You by Caroline Kepnes on my kindle. I made it through a good amount and it was fun to compare the book vs. Netflix series.
What I have been doing for exercise : Even though it is winter, I have been upping my workout routine. My husband and I got a Peloton bike after Christmas and since then, we have been obsessed! I still do Orange Theory twice a week and then aim for a Peloton ride the other days of the week. My weekly goal is to workout at least 6 days a week with varying impact levels. Our Peloton subscription comes with on demand strength classes as well so I love doing a 10 minute core routine after a bike ride followed by a stretching video.
That concludes my winter favorites! I am counting down until days of warmth and golf.. so in the meantime let me know how you are surviving this winter.
