Prior to moving, our guest bedroom was also the Peloton room, Paul’s office and storage area. Now that we are in our new space, we have a dedicated room for friends and family who visit. Paul’s desk is still in the guest room for the few days he works from home, but we have since moved the Peloton station to the basement along with storage. Eventually the plan is to finish the basement where we will have a separate guest room and bath to allow visitors extra privacy.
In today’s post, I wanted to share some of my guest bedroom inspiration to help create a welcoming and cozy place for visitors:
Comfy Bedding: I recently purchased a duvet cover from Pottery Barn after a few failed attempts of trying to find good bedding on Amazon. The previous duvets or comforters didn’t seem to fit right or were cheap sets that weren’t very good quality. I already had a duvet insert from Pottery Barn from a few years ago, so a new white cover and shams really freshened up the room. Similar bedding to what I purchased can be found HERE
A Comfy Mattress: Let’s just say the mattress we have in our guest bedroom isn’t the most comfortable. Currently, we are using my old Ikea full-size mattress and I am a bit embarrassed anytime we have someone spend the night. Paul and I are planning on investing in a Casper mattress to provide our guests a good nights sleep rather than back pain.
Throw Pillows: I know my husband does not understand the purpose of throw pillows, but I think they can add so much to a room. I will say, throw pillows are stupid expensive, but Home Goods is a great place to find good quality pillows without spending enough to take a family of 4 out to Ruth Chris Steakhouse.
Customizable Wifi Sign: This obviously isn’t necessary and your guests can simply ask you for the wifi password, but adding a customizable wifi network name and password sign is a cute touch to the room.
Laundry Basket: This would be aimed more towards the longer term house guests. If a friend or family member is staying for longer than a weekend, it may be nice to provide a laundry basket so they feel welcome doing a load of laundry throughout their trip.
Extra Lighting: I love that our guest bedroom has a ton of natural lighting during the day. I recommend adding a table lamp to your guest bed nightstand for additional lighting in the evening. This one from Target is cute and affordable!
Extra iPhone Chargers: Add a nice touch to the room by pre-plugging in an extra iPhone charger.
