Paul and I ventured to Las Vegas last weekend with our good friends. This is the second time we have been to Vegas in a year and without sounding negative, I think I am good on a trip to sin city for a few more years. Overall, the trip was a blast and it was fun traveling with another couple. We golfed, ate at amazing restaurants, and I got some pool time, which I was looking forward to. I also managed to vlog the trip… and although it didn’t turn out very good (as usual I kept forgetting to film), it is always fun to look back on the memories.
Golf at Reflection Bay:
Last year, Paul and I golfed two days in Vegas but this year we only planned for one. We headed to Reflection Bay in Henderson, NV about 30 minutes outside of the strip. The course was beautiful and I was playing pretty well until hole 16 when I managed to lose 3 golf balls. Any time you hit your ball into a canyon and the guys give you a breakfast ball, don’t take it and just drop. I ended up driving a second ball into the exact same part of the canyon. Usually a big blow up hole like that screws with my head, but I have turned a new leaf in my golf game and decided I don’t care as much. A good mindset helped because I was able to pull it together and finish with 2 pars for a 91.
Our Stay at the Bellagio:
I may have some very unpopular opinions in this section so apologies ahead of time. I will start by saying the Bellagio is a gorgeous hotel. But for the price you pay to stay there, I don’t think it is worth it (at least with what I hope to get out of a hotel). The Bellagio is a popular hotel on the strip so with that (and like many other hotels), walking through the lobby was like navigating the stadium after a Broncos game has ended. But at all hours of the day (except 6:30am when we are catching an Uber to the golf course). The room was spacious, but the mini fridge is unusable because it is filled with alcohol and you will be charged an arm and a leg if any of the bottles are moved off their censor. Our room was in the back tower, but we still had a view of the strip and a parking garage. Overall, the room was clean but I did notice some stains on my pillow, which isn’t my favorite when I am staying in a pricier hotel.
I was looking forward to the warm sun ahead of the trip so I was excited to spend a few hours each day at the pool. I am sure it differs at certain times of the year, but it was a little difficult to find open chairs. We ended up scouring the pool deck and found space, but others weren’t so lucky.
Dinners:
On the first night we went to Water Grill in Caesar’s Palace, which was my favorite. I got the lobster roll and the yummiest margarita. I wish I could have taken home a jug of the lime, cucumber, basil and jalapeño mixer. Night two we went to Jasmine in the Bellagio, which is a restaurant we went to almost 6 years ago with the same couple on a trip to Vegas after I graduated college. We all remembered it being better, and I didn’t love my meal. Adding the hefty Vegas prices on top, I was definitely bummed. On night three, we took an Uber off strip to Ferraro’s Italian. The prices are much better even a few minutes from Las Vegas Blvd and the food is still just as delicious. Side note, I just realized I took 0 pictures of our food. What kind of millennial am I?
That about covers it for our trip to Vegas. Be sure to check out my latest post from my recent work trip to Tucson, Arizona.
