Welcome to part three of my Kauai Travel Series (catch up on the last two posts here and here)! In today’s post, I am highlighting four restaurants we tried at while in Kauai. We didn’t end up eating out much because our condo at Lawai Beach Resort had a kitchen and we planned a majority of our meals. Eating out can add up while in Hawaii, so if you are looking to save some money, I definitely recommend grocery shopping and preparing meals yourself. Nevertheless, Paul and I wanted to plan a few date nights out and we also celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday at Keoki’s Paradise the last night.
The Beach House
Right across the street from where we were staying was The Beach House. Lucky for us, we were within walking distance of one of Kauai’s most well-known restaurants to both residents and visitors. It is nestled along the spectacular Lawai Beach oceanfront and features indoor and outdoor seating. I was more focused on getting vlog footage, that I failed to take many pictures. I ended up screenshotting some of my footage so I could include it in this post (hence the terrible quality pics below).
When Paul and I eat out, we love to try a few appetizers and then share an entree. We started with the ahi tuna tacos and deviled eggs and then finished with the ahi tuna entree and side caesar salad. It was plenty of food, partly because I filled up on bread prior to the appetizers like I normally do. The mixed drinks were delicious (and pricey), and the views were beautiful. Beware that some of the tables are directly in the sun so you may be blinded during sunset and/or dripping sweat.
Red Salt
If you thought the photo quality for my review on The Beach House was bad, wait until you see the sad two pictures I took at Red Salt. Anyway, Paul and I went to Red Salt for our second dinner date of the trip. It is located in the Poipu Bay Marriott, which was a short drive from our condo. Our waiter was very sweet, but she went MIA after the food was delivered and we were wondering if she would ever come back to take our money. Regardless, the food was pretty good, but we both liked Beach House better. We started with yellow tail and then stuck with the theme of the trip, ahi tuna bruschetta and ahi tuna for our shared entree. Once again I filled up on the (not pictured) bread, which is served with butter and black salt.
Keoki’s Paradise
Disclaimer: Before jumping into this final review, I would like to mention that I am officially the worst restaurant reviewer. I did not take one picture of our food at Keoki’s Paradise.
On the last night of vacation, my family celebrated my dad’s 60th birthday at Keoki’s Paradise. Located in Poipu Bay, this restaurant is highly recommended and is owned by the same restaurant group as Duke’s, which is an Hawaiian favorite. I will say, Keoki’s Paradise gave off fancy Rainforest Cafe vibes. The food was great, but the service was a 5/10. Similar to Red Salt, our waiter was MIA most of the evening, which ended up being a loss for the restaurant because if she had checked-in more than once when she took our order and came back with the check at the end of the night, we probably would have had the opportunity to order another round of $18 drinks. Since it was my dad’s birthday, the restaurant gave him a huge piece of cake, which was a nice gesture.
Little Fish Coffee
Technically Little Fish Coffee is more of a food stand, but I still wanted to mention it in this post. Located in Poipu Bay is the busiest coffee and food stand you ever did see. My mom, sister, Paul and I went for açaí bowls towards the end of the trip and luckily there wasn’t a line. I recommend going late morning if you want to avoid the crazy morning rush and 30 person long line. Overall, our açaí bowls were delicious and the menu is pretty extensive so you should be able to find something for everyone in the family!
