I promised you guys an interview with a well-known YouTube beauty/fashion guru and I finally got around to doing it! Snaps for me! Marissa (aka MarissaLace) graciously agreed to do a Meet the YouTuber interview so you guys can learn more about her and the beauty/fashion YouTube community!
Date you made your first video?
October of last year (2011).
Why did you decide to make beauty/fashion videos?
I’d always watch them on YouTube and been super interested, then I became friends with a fellow YouTuber and she encouraged me to start a channel.
Is there a story behind your username MarissaLace?
At first people thought my last name was lace, perfect stripper name right? Marissa is my first name and then lace is actually taken from my last name shhhh 😉
Who are your favorite gurus to watch?
It’s always changing with new gurus and all, but two of my favorites are Casey Holmes and Rachel Whitehurt. They’re so genuine and have fab personalities!
How do you deal with haters?
It’s really never bothered me because I see it as “haters” would never say anything to my face. The internet gives people the freedom to say whatever they want pretty much. But you’ll never please everyone and that’s why you have to remember when starting a YouTube channel.
Where are your favorite places to shop?
Nordstrom and Forever 21!!
How hold were you when you started wearing make up?
Probably 13!
How did people you know react when they found out about your videos?
My friends were super encouraging and people who never talked to me before popped up as if we were best friends.
What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?
Base Essentials Buxom Lash mascara!
