Hello Lovelies!
I am starting my back to school [depressing, I know] series where I will share my tips for you! This post is all about organization which is so incredibly important in college. If you are going to be a freshman, college classes may seem scary at first, but with the right mindset and organizational skills you will be ready for whatever is thrown your way. And even if you’re already in college or in high school, hopefully this post can help you prepare! Below are four tips to staying organized in college!
#1: Buy a Planner!
Planners will be your lifesaver in college. Don’t rely on scribbling down assignments or readings that you need to do on your notes or on random pieces of paper. Have a designated place where you can track when everything is due. I’ve been lazy before and not utilized my planner and that has left me remembering an assignment 20 minutes before class and having to quickly scramble out something that is not my best work. I have purchased a Lilly Pulitzer planner the past two years and I love it! Not only is it adorable, it is my go-to place for everything from jotting down when a project is due to what time I have an interview for an internship.

*Tip: At the beginning of the semester, go through each of your classes syllabi and map out when major assignments and projects are due. At my college, we can pick up a blank semester calendar where we can fill in any assignment due during the 13 weeks. This is perfect to hang next to your desk so it is a visual reminder of what is coming in the next few weeks!
#2: Finish Assignments Early!
If you have a professor that gives you an assignment quite some time before it is due, get it done ASAP! If you aren’t busy during that week, crank out as many assignments as you can. Who knows what your week will be like when it is due, so finish it up ahead of time when the material is fresh in your mind and while you aren’t swamped with a million other things to do. I love the feeling of already having finished an assignment that my classmates are just starting the night before!
#3: Create a Daily Task List:
On super busy days, or even mellow days, each morning jot down a quick list of the things you want to get done by the end of the day. You can even add time frames so you can stick to it as best as you can. To-do lists are extremely helpful in college when you have midterms or a lot of projects due. Set times to work on assignments or study for each class, but also set aside time to relax and watch a show on Netflix or workout!
#4: Find Time for Yourself:
Staying organized is 10x harder when you are stressed out of your mind. No matter how busy your week is, it is so important to find time for yourself. Whether that is listening to music in your dorm, watching a show on Netflix, venturing to a new coffeeshop, or anything to let yourself relax. Personally, if I get too stressed it makes it difficult to get things done. I need alone time to wind down and relax after stressful days and you shouldn’t feel guilty taking time for yourself either!
I hope these tips help you stay organized at school!
