[Work Essentials] What to Bring to your Job

What I have learned during my few years having internships or summer jobs, is to always be prepared at work. Above is a collage of a few things that I like to carry with me whenever I head to work. The most important, and often overlooked item, is a notebook and pen. Especially during your first week on the job, it is so important to take notes, write down questions, and even jot down your thoughts throughout the day. Once you get the hang of things, keep bringing a notebook so you’re always prepared for an improv meeting or if you think of a really great idea! Additionally, be sure to carry your business cards around. I recommend purchasing a business card holder like the Kate Spade one above. You never know you will meet and even if you are just an intern, a business card with your contact information is the perfect way to network.

Another essential is a sturdy bag that is also professional. Longchamp bags are so cute and big enough to carry any paperwork plus your work essentials. Find a good bag that is versatile and will last you a long time!

 If you are pulling long work days, I always recommend bringing a little make up bag with your lipstick, face powder, a powder brush, roll on perfume, and some deodorant. After running around the office half the day, it is always a life saver to have some face powder and roll on perfume to freshen up around lunchtime. Deodorant is also great just in case! Lastly, I ALWAYS bring a snack to work. Pick something this is nutritional like Kind Bars because it will give you a boost of energy, but also is better for your health!
