Must Have Summer Essentials

In honor of it being officially summer (my favorite season of the year), I decided to do a summer essentials post featuring my favorites for the hot and sunny summer months. Even though I am working crazy hours, I still want to enjoy the outdoors on the weekends and go to pool parties, BBQs and hikes! Plus, July is my birthday month so that is even more of a reason to splurge on summer essentials (right??).

Blow Up Donut Floatie

Unless you live under a rock, you have probably seen cute pool floaties everywhere lately. I actually was at Target the other day and saw that they were on sale for $19.99. If the pool at my apartment complex wasn’t under maintenance, I definitely would have purchased the donut floatie right then and there. What is better than floating around a pool in a blow up donut?

Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray

In the summer I hate using heat on my hair so if I am not trying to get all done up for work or going out, I love using sea salt spray to create beachy waves after a shower. The worst is getting ready in the hot bathroom using a scalding hot heat tool on your hair. No thanks! The Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray  works for my hair type and create beachy waves, no heat needed!

Denim Shorts & Off the Shoulder Tops:

I LOVE LOVE LOVE off the shoulder tops. Especially lacey white tops like the one above. Pair it with some high waisted denim shorts (a summer wardrobe staple) and you’ll look darling! I wear business casual clothes five days a week, so any chance I have to put on some denim shorts and a girly top I will jump on it!

Bobbi Brown Lip Balm with SPF & Tinted Moisturizer

I have a horrible experience from being out in the sun on a trip in Mexico and not wearing chapstick with SPF. After waking up with swollen and blistery lips, I vowed to ALWAYS use chapstick with SPF. The Bobbi Brown SPF 15 Lip Balm is a beautiful blush pink color, but provides protection against harsh UV rays, which is essential in the summer. I also try to always wear a foundation or tinted moisturizer with SPF in order to protect my face against sun spots. The Bobbi Brown Tinted Moisturizer with SPF is a great consistency and you don’t have to worry about applying sunscreen before you do your makeup. However, I do recommend using a face sunscreen if you are going to be sitting by the pool or in the sun for an extended period of time.

Cross Bikini Top

I love all the details swimsuits have this season. Who cares about weird tan lines, cross bikini tops are so cute and 10x more secure than a string bikini. No more worrying about your bikini strings coming untied and giving everyone at the beach a free show.
