If you are an OG Miss Olivia Says reader, you will know that I got inspiration to start my blog from the gals of YouTube beauty/fashion/lifestyle community. In high school I started watching YouTube religiously and throughout the years enjoyed finding new YouTubers to subscribe to. Last year, I interviewed Carrie Dayton from 615CareBear, who I have been subscribed to over a year now (find that interview HERE). Because Carrie’s channel is taking off and I still watch her videos obsessively, I decided it would be fun to do a updated interview with her! Check out my interview with Carrie below:
1. Our last interview together was in Jan. 2016, what is your proudest moment so far regarding your channel’s progress?
I think the thing I’m most proud of is how unabashedly ME I was in 2016. I made a conscious decision to really open up about my life and not hold back out of fear that my personality would be too “big” or too “crude” for some. Sounds like no big deal, but it was really scary for me! (Also, I was recognized by a stranger from a meme I was in recently and it’s basically the best thing that’s ever happened to me in my whole entire life.)
2. You always have the funniest storytimes (my favorites HERE and HERE)… how do you decide which stories to tell?
Thank you so much for saying that! To be honest, my life has been insane so sometimes it’s hard to know where to begin. Haha! Most of the time I’ll be reminiscing with friends over different memories and a story will come up and they’ll be like, “you NEED to make a video about this!”
3. You’ve been through a lot of change in the past year including moving! What is your advice for your subscribers to take a chance and go outside of their comfort zone?
My advice would be exactly that – just take a chance. I lost 3 people I really loved in 2016, and the cruel lesson I took from all of that was that you can’t take time for granted. I’m someone who always relied on “there’s more time”, and that isn’t always true. If you want to move – move! If you want to change careers because you’re miserable – do it! Don’t be a reckless idiot, but life is too damn short to not pursue something just because it’s not in the comfort of your little bubble (I speak from experience). You’ll be surprised what you find when you step outside of it!
4. What is your favorite YouTube memory so far?
Besides really growing a stronger relationship with my subscribers on YouTube and on social media, I think attending Vidcon last summer was one of the best memories I’ve had. I met so many YouTube friends that I’d only known on a computer screen for so long and we had the best time. I can’t wait to go again this year!
Random Question Section:
5. Favorite music genre?
Honestly, the dirtiest grimiest rap you can imagine…but I also love acoustic music so much, 90’s music, 60’s/70’s rock/pop, and sooo many others. My Spotify is all over the place gurl.
6. Any New Years Resolutions?
My biggest resolution this year is to be more kind to myself, which sounds cheesy but it’s a big deal for me. That and to travel more!
7. Where do you hope to see your channel in a year from now?
I of course want to continue to do more music, more big sister advice, more funny stories etc, but I really want to grow my vlogging side this year. Vlogging has been my new favorite thing to watch and to do, so I hope to continue and for people to grow to love it along with me!
Speaking of that, Carrie has an amazing voice! See for yourself: HERE
