No one ever wants to age and get older but, unfortunately, there is often nothing that we can do about it. It’s impossible to stop the clock, so you mind as well embrace it and work on incorporating anti-aging practices into your every day routine.
Believe it or not, you don’t need to spend thousands on expensive procedures to minimize signs of aging. Instead, there are a few things you can do in your every day life to slow down the whole process. You’re probably thinking, Olivia you are only 23 do you really need to start thinking about this stuff? The answer is yes! The earlier you start fighting the effects of anti-aging, you will get much better results and will look younger for longer. So, even you are reading this and believe that it doesn’t apply to you because you are still in your twenties, now is the perfect time to give your anti-aging skin routine a boost to fight off those wrinkles and age lines for as long as possible.
Here are some of my anti-aging insights:
Hydrate The Skin
One of the best ways to protect the skin from the effects of aging is to ensure it stays as hydrated as possible. Thankfully, most moisturizers and other skin products come fortified with extra added moisture and, as a result, they ensure your skin stays soft and supple for longer. There are some other treatments you might want to use as well. If you suffer from particularly bad dry facial skin, you should look for night creams or anti-aging creams that have added sebum in them. It could also be worth treating yourself to regular facials as some moisture-rich creams and serums will be applied to your skin in the process.
Drink More Water
Another great way to add more moisture to your skin is to drink as much water as you can through the day. This isn’t just great for your skin – it will actually do wonders for your overall health as well. You need to remember that the amount of water you need depends on your level of daily activity. So, if you are regularly going to the gym or taking part in any other form of strenuous exercise, you will need to greatly increase your water intake. Even if you don’t do much exercise, you should still make sure that you don’t get dehydrated. Otherwise, your skin could dry out, get thinner, and be a lot more prone to wrinkles. And drinking lots of water is easier than you think! Check out this video to see 21 ways to drink more water everyday.
Moisturize Every Day
Do you put your moisturizer on every day? If not, then that is something you should start doing! First of all, it’s important because it can minimize your chances of developing skin problems. Secondly, and probably most importantly when it comes to aging, moisturizer helps the sensitive skin on your face and neck repair itself. The cells on the face and neck are constantly being replaced, and moisturizer prevents any dryness making them vulnerable. Ideally, you should apply a day cream first thing in the morning and a night cream while you are in bed asleep at night.
Always Wear Sun Cream
Especially during the summer, it’s always nice to spend a few hours in the sun each day. But if you aren’t wearing any sun protection, then those few hours could turn very dangerous quite quickly. Your skin will bear the brunt of the sun’s rays and, as a result, could end up very dried out and sunburnt. So, you need to always wear sun cream on your face. You can apply this before you moisturize and put your makeup on in the morning.
Cut Down On Processed Foods
You are what you eat, right? Well, that can be true up to a point. In fact, your diet could have a big impact on your appearance. We all know that sugary and processed foods really aren’t good for us. They can impact our health, increase our chances of gaining excess weight, and can also cause certain health conditions, such as diabetes and high blood pressure. Eating a lot of processed foods on a regular basis can also speed up the aging process. That’s because all of the sugar and other random ingredients in processed food will result in your skin losing its firmness. And when your skin starts to become less firm, wrinkles start to develop.
Take Vitamin A
There are some foods that are really good for our skin. These include oily fish, sunflower seeds, and sweet potatoes. The main reason why these foods are so good for the skin is that they are very rich in vitamin A. Vitamin A is possible the best vitamin for the skin as it encourages the growth of healthy skin cells. It can also help the skin retain its elasticity and suppleness. If you don’t think that you can get enough vitamin A from your diet, you might want to consider taking a daily supplement. You can often buy vitamin A tablets from your local health food store.

Get Your Beauty Sleep
It is often said that we need plenty of beauty sleep in order to keep looking good. Well, this is more than an old saying. It’s actually true that getting enough sleep can help you look good and stay looking youthful! The body repairs itself while we are sleeping, so this is the time when your skin’s cells will be their most active and will be busy creating new ones. Nutrients also spread around the body while we sleep, so your skin will be able to get all of that vitamin A that will help it glow! You will find that if you don’t get enough sleep, you will wake up with puffy eyes, which is one of the main telltale signs of aging.
Stay Mentally And Physically Active
It’s also important to remember that the aging process doesn’t just affect your face. It will also slow us down both physically and mentally. Thankfully, there are some ways we can help our bodies and minds try to deal with aging so it doesn’t affect them too much. Continuing with your usual exercise routine as you age will help. That’s especially the case if you regularly do strength workouts that focus on your core. These will ensure that your muscles stay strong for years to come and that your body continues to be supple and have flexibility. You will also need to focus on your mind as well. As we grow older, our thinking and cognitive processes can often slow down, and our memory can also fade. In order to fight this and ensure that your mind and memory continue to be sharp well into your older years, you need to keep on training them. In fact, there are now many apps you can download that feature exercises and tools that will keep your mind active and on the ball. It’s also a good idea to eat for good brain health. Ensure your diet features lots of omega 3 fatty acids as they promote a healthy and active brain.
