Partner Post
It is finally wedding season! And as some of you know, this year is extra special because I am getting married in October. To celebrate the wedding planning festivities, I have creating a wedding series here on Miss Olivia Says and today’s post is all about how to pick the perfect wedding outfit as a guest! If you are heading to a wedding this season, it is important that you dress for the occasion. A lot of people tend to stress over what to wear to a wedding, so today I am sharing some helpful hints and tips to get started.
Don’t Wear White
It helps to avoid off-white and even super pale blue as well. The bride will most likely be wearing white, so try to avoid white clothing and save that for the bride. If you want to wear something close to white then opt for a neutral color, such as beige, grey and more.
Don’t Wear Denim
Unless it is part of the wedding theme, jeans are too casual. Denim is very casual and it should really only be left out of the wedding.
Don’t Wear Shorts- Guys
Even if it is super hot, you need to wear pants. Unless of course the wedding is on a beach where shorts would be appropriate. In this case, be sure to check out the couple’s wedding website as a lot of times the attire is listed. Regardless of how hot it is, it’s super important that you dress up and opt for pants. You’ll be able to take off your tie and jacket a bit later on during the reception, but as for the ceremony, keep it classy.
Do Go with the Theme
If there is a theme, such as blue or green and the bride and groom want you to go with this theme then it’s really important that you do so. If there is no theme then get some inspiration from what other people are wearing. This will help you to feel more confident in the outfit you have and it’s a great way for you to really step out of the box. Fashion for the larger lady has never been easier either, and there are so many sites out there to help you.
Do Try and Be Unique
It’s mentioned above that you should try and make sure that your outfit fits in, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t be unique at all. If you like pastels or floral dresses that is perfect for a summer wedding. If you see a winter dress that is sleek and black then don’t be afraid to go for this either. As long as the style is suitable for a wedding and it’s not white, you’re good to go!
