This past weekend I once again traveled back to California for more pre-wedding festivities. Thank goodness for a flexible work schedule because I was remote from my parent’s house Wednesday-Friday, which allowed for more time with my family and to work on wedding planning. On Saturday was my Bridal Shower and was so fun. My mom and sister planned the party and it was a success. We had about 20 people at the shower and my fiance’s mom and sister even flew out to be there, which really meant a lot. The party was only from 11-1pm and was structured around brunch, a mimosa bar, 2 games and presents. I won’t lie, it can be a bit overwhelming being sure to talk to everyone but it was good practice for the actual wedding! Anyway, I wanted to share some photos of the day and perhaps give other brides or anyone helping with a bridal shower inspiration!
The brunch wasn’t exactly healthy, but we were quite proud of the spread we had. We had bagels, donuts, fruits, muffins and 3 types of egg casserole that my mom made. I actually had my wedding dress alterations appointment a couple hours after the party so I just ate some fruit and egg casserole. After the fitting I had a donut that I was eyeing all day!
My dad made 2 donut stands for the wedding reception so we decided it would be cute to use one for the shower. We had saw these stands all over Etsy and Pinterest, but they were pretty expensive and my dad being a carpenter, said he would made them himself. I LOVE how they turned out and think they are so cute. One thing we didn’t take into consideration was that the donuts on the bottom tend to get a little squished, but other than that I think they are a great touch to a dessert table.
Pinneapple is so tasty this time of the year and it was a hit at the shower. We also had cantelope, strawberries and blueberries!
My mom ordered this ‘Bride to Be’ sign off of Amazon. She ended up getting a majority of the decorations, plates, napkins, and forks/knives from Amazon for great prices. I recommend browsing Amazon because I found they have better prices on these kinds of things than places like Target or party stores.
My grandma made these cupcakes for the shower and they turned out amazing. She is really good at baking and creating beautiful cakes and cupcakes so I was excited that she made these pretty blush pink cupcakes. Everyone thought they had been professionally made!
My mom also ordered a giant glass and filled it with pink Starbursts, which are everyone’s favorite. We ended up having leftovers and we are going to put them in the wedding party favors.
Paul (my fiance) was in town with me Friday-Sunday and him and my dad went to TopGolf during the shower. We met up at the wedding venue with my family, Paul, and Paul’s mom and sister after the party to chat with out wedding photographer. We also met a girl from Rover who is going to pick up my German Shepherd Jake after the ceremony. He is going to walk down the aisle in a cute ‘Dog of Honor’ bandana so we needed someone to drive him home after the ceremony.
Overall, my mom and sister threw a great party and I am very appreciative of their help throughout the wedding planning process. Please feel free to reach out if you have any wedding questions, I love chatting with other brides!
xoxo
