While Paul and I were visiting my family in California for Christmas this year, we decided to have a date night and stay at the Kimpton Sawyer Hotel in Downtown Sacramento. I highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting Sacramento, or even from the surrounding area and looking for a fun staycation.
The suites are amazing. Our room had a living room area with a couch, TV, and fully stocked mini bar. The bedroom, which is off the living room, had amazing views. We could see the State Capitol building, downtown buildings, and Golden One Center where the Sacramento Kings were playing that night. The bed was so comfortable and there were ample outlets, which is always a plus for me! Plus, on the nightstand there is a portable speaker that you can sync up to your phone!
I loved all the windows in our room. We definitely lucked out because we had a corner room so we had a view to the east and to the south. Typically, most hotel rooms only have one window, but at the Kimpton Sawyer there were two windows in the bedroom , one in the bathroom and one in the living room!
My favorite part of the hotel was by far the giant soaking tub. I love baths and unfortunately my tub at home is very tiny so I don’t utilize it often. The tub at the Kimpton Sawyer is located in the shower so it is safe to say the bathroom is quite spacious.
The hotel also will provide you anything from chargers, to toothbrushes and even a sewing kit, which I ended up needing two of… more of that to come. Not only are the rooms amazing, but the Kimpton Sawyer has many other amenities including a pool, fitness center, steakhouse, and even a club called Revival. Plus, the hotel itself is in a prime location close to the Golden One Center, Punch Bowl Social as well as many other bars and resturants.
Paul and I had planned to get dressed up and grab dinner at one of the resturants close to the hotel. Well we decided to go to Punch Bowl Social right after a Kings game finished up, which was a bad idea. That place was packed and I definitely did not fit in wearing my fancy red dress. We ended up trying to go to the hotel steakhouse, Morton’s, and the Firehouse restaurant in Old Sacramento, but there was not any availability for a couple of hours. We opted for room service and was so glad we did. The food was amazing and definitely the best food I have ever had from a hotel!
The only downside to this hotel was the lighting was terrible… haha. I wanted a cute picture in my red dress from Rent the Runway, but none of them turned out very good. Speaking of the red dress, as soon as I put this little number on both the straps broke. I didn’t bring any other semi-nice clothes to wear instead so I was determined to make it work. Paul got two sewing kits from the hotel and I was able to somehow sew the straps back on and placed a safety pin on each side to ensure they were extra secured. I ended up contacting Rent the Runway regarding my fashion disaster, and they were very accomodating and apologetic. I was just glad I wasn’t anywhere super important like a work dinner with two straps that broke
Overall, I highly recommend visiting the Kimpton Sawyer your next time in Sacramento, California. The Kimpton brand actually has hotels all over the world so definitely take a peek at all of their locations for your next getaway!
