I am finally getting around to posting more from my trip to Fiji in April. I had been focusing more on creating vlogs from our trip, which turned out pretty good for a first time vlogger. I didn’t realize how hard it is to get enough footage and still enjoy the moment. There were so many times I forgot my camera or when I did have it, I forgot to use it. Regardless, I got some good footage and was able to create a couple fun vlogs to look back on. In today’s post I wanted to share my vlog from our excursion to Cloud9 Fiji and give a mini review!
Cloud9 is “Fiji’s floating paradise” and essentially is a restaurant/bar in the middle of the turquoise water. There is music, sun decks and day beds paired with a pizza oven and full bar. Each ticket is $225FJD, which is around $100USD and includes a $60 bar tab (which doesn’t get you far…). There are two trips a day, one that leaves Denarau Island port at 9:15am and the other that leaves at 1:15pm. I recommend going on the morning trip if you can! In Fiji there are often afternoon storms! On our trip, we left while the 1:30pm group arrived and just as we were boating away from the platform, the dark clouds rolled in and it started to down pour.
Pros:
- Cloud9 Fiji is a really cool concept. The water is beautiful and you can get some amazing pictures
- The pizza from the wood burning stove is really yummy!
- You can jump off the platforms into the water, which I think I did 26 times
- Included in your ticket is transportation to and from the platform via boat. It is about a 45 minute boat ride, so take that into consideration when viewing ticket prices and duration of the trip
- Hotel transfers are also available! If you book through the Cloud9 Fiji website, you can choose which hotel you are staying at (I think just on Denarau Island) and a shuttle will pick you up and drop you off after the trip.
- A $60 bar tab is included in the ticket price
Cons
- Mother Nature was not on our side, so if the weather is looking iffy you may not be able to enjoy Cloud9 Fiji to the fullest. A pro is when you arrive at Denarau Island port to check in and head to the boats, they will offer the option to reschedule your excursion if the weather isn’t looking good! So if you have flexible plans and there are storms in sight, just re-book for a different day.
- Don’t expect a five star beach club. There are bathrooms, but they were a bit dirty and ran out of toilet paper. I think most people just go in the ocean if we are being honest.
- You can certainly turn up on Cloud9, but the drinks are a bit pricey and do add up. The $60 bar tab does help!
- The bar ran out of water at the tail end of our excursion. I’m hoping when the next group arrived, the employees on the boat brought more provisions, but I can’t confirm.
- The platform is not huge and they definitely sell as many tickets as they can. It felt overcrowded and it was a battle to find open chairs/sun beds. If you want prime seating, be the first off the boat and head upstairs to the cabana bed or the day beds located on the front of the platform on the first floor
I may be a harsh critic, but my husband and I did enjoy our time. There are definitely some things that could be improved, but overall it was a nice change of pace from the resort life. Comment down below if you have been to Cloud9 and your thoughts! In the meantime, check out my vlog from our experience:
