This past weekend I had the amazing opportunity to stand next to one of my best friends while she married her soul mate. My husband and I traveled to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for my friend Juliana’s bachelorette party and wedding weekend. It was a full 4 days of fun and unforgettable memories. I met some amazing people, including her bridal party who I now consider good friends <3
Once we landed at the PV airport on Thursday, Paul and I shared a Taxi ride where I was dropped off at the condo with the bridal party and he was dropped off a couple miles away at the Westin Hotel for a solo adventure until the wedding. Don’t worry Paul had plenty of fun, consisting of a full day fishing trip, massage and pool time.
Once the 6 bridesmaids arrived at the condo on Thursday afternoon, the festivities began! We got right to work and decorated the condo, took pictures, and got dressed up for a night on the town. We started the evening at a local taco restaurant close to where Juliana and her fiancé’s apartment. We definitely looked out of the ordinary wearing our club attire in a casual restaurant known for their al pastor tacos. Nevertheless, we wouldn’t have had it any other way. After dinner, we walked a couple of blocks to a family-ran churro stand, another one of Juliana’s favorites. The rest of the night we spent on the Malecon where we went to a country bar, salsa dancing club and finished the night at Mandela.
On Friday morning we enjoyed a low-key breakfast at the condo and then headed down to the pool for a couple of hours. Juliana left for the rehearsal dinner a bit earlier for a photoshoot with her finance. The rest of the girls and I headed to the dinner spot, Mariscos El Guero, which is another amazing local restaurant that Juliana loves. The rehearsal dinner brought together both families, the bridal party, groomsmen, and significant others (including Paul!). The shrimp tacos and ceviche were delicious, plus I enjoyed spending some time with Paul before seeing him again on Saturday evening for the wedding.
Saturday was wedding day! The wedding was at Las Caletas, which is about a 1-hour boat ride from the Maritime Terminal in PV. The bridal party left port at 8:30 for a full day enjoying the endless activities and bridal suite at the venue. If you haven’t been to Las Caletas, I highly recommend it. It is seriously a entirely different world with any activity you can think of. Once we got to the bridal suite, we we’re greeted with a personal waiter and ‘Welcome Tacos’… seriously the best guacamole I have ever had. We had a couple of hours to explore and relax until it was time to begin hair and makeup so some of the girls took advantage of the zip line and banana boat. Juliana wanted to steer clear of the activities just in case of injury, so her and I sat on the beach and sipped a margarita.
The wedding ceremony was beautiful and conducted in both English and Spanish incorporating the two cultures and languages. The night concluded with a delicious Mexican buffet and dancing. All the guests were guided back to the boat around 10:30 where the reception and dancing continued. Overall the wedding was unforgettable and I am still having post-wedding blues a couple days later.
I joined Paul at the Westin Hotel the last 1.5 days where we hung out but the pool and relaxed. We headed back to Denver on Monday and was greeted by a snow storm. Luckily our flight was not cancelled, but it was definitely a rude awakening to the end of the vacation.
Be sure to check out the vlog I created featuring just a snippet of the trip. I wish I got my footage, but I was enjoying the moment and creating memories.
