In an effort to do our part with social distancing, this weekend has been filled with cleaning and organizing. Yesterday, I jotted down a list of about 15 tasks for me and Paul to tackle. We did everything from organizing our pantry, cleaning out our freezer, to scrubbing the shower. This afternoon while I was waiting for my turn to ride the Peloton, I got a sudden urge to organize my dresser. I remember seeing before and after pictures of people organizing their dresser with inspiration from Marie Kondo. Although I haven’t watched any of her shows, I know enough about her that I wanted to do the same to my own dresser. Disclaimer, I know my folding style is messier than Marie Kondo’s, but it is something I know I can keep up.
I had so much fun seeing how much more space I created in my dresser, that I tackled Paul’s as well! Because of the additional space I created, I was even able to move all of my leggings from a shelf in my closet to a drawer in my dresser.
I didn’t take before and after pictures for each drawer, except for my messiest drawer (see below). I don’t use this one very often, but for some reason everything was in a jumbled pile. A lot of what was in this drawer was old Forever 21 sweaters and long sleeves I’ve had fo years. While organizing all of my drawers, I ended up creating separate piles of clothes I don’t wear anymore to give away and to toss.
I created so much space in this drawer that I was able to move some of my sweatshirts from a closet in our guest room to this drawer!
Tank tops, short sleeves and t-shirts (also from the closet in our guest room)
Workout and golf clothes!
Overall, if you are looking for easy and effective ways to organize your clothes, I highly recommend this approach. It is quick and you’ll be able to see all your options next time you open up your dresser drawer.
