Before COVID-19 changed our daily lives, Paul and I purchased a Peloton bike a couple days after Christmas. As mentioned in previous posts, I am an avid Orange Theory goer, but I also was looking for other exercise options to spice things up on my off days. Paul on the other hand, wanted to get back into an exercise routine, but he is a bit more picky than I am. Last year, he had a gym membership for a hot second, but as golf season began, his trips to the gym dwindled. Eventually, he cancelled the membership. When we were discussing exercise routines around Christmas, we began looking into Peloton because we heard great reviews from friends. We ended up pulling the trigger and our bike was delivered a week or so later. In today’s post, I wanted to do a quick little review in case any of my readers are on the edge (and provide my promo code).
Exercise where you don’t have to leave the house
I think this was huge for Paul. He wanted something that was convenient and a way to avoid excuses. With our bike right upstairs, coming up with excuses why you can’t do a quick workout is difficult. There is a sense of accountability when you don’t have to leave your house. This is a good and bad thing for me. I love love love having Peloton especially while we are quarantined, but even without quarantine my job is already 100% remote so getting out of the house for exercise is good for me. Once Orange Theory resumes that will be a good balance, but in the meantime I am so happy I can social distance and get a good workout in.
The variety of classes and workouts
When I first heard of Peloton, I thought it was only a stationary bike. Boy was I wrong! With the On-Demand options, there are outdoor runs, core strength, meditation, yoga, and dance classes to name a few. Side note, I did a dance class last week and it was so fun. Plus with Peloton Treadmill making moves, the options are endless. And no worries if you don’t have a Peloton bike or treadmill, you can sign up for free 90 days on their app and you will have access to all the classes.
I also love that I can switch up the length of the cycling classes. If I am feeling spicy one day I can take an hour class then the next day get in one or two 15-minute classes during breaks in my day. It is seriously so convenient there is no reason not to get some sort of exercise in.
The price.
I think a lot of people are scared away from purchasing a Peloton because of the price. However, there are so many options on payment you can specify to your budget. We are financing (I think a majority of people go this route) and based on what you are comfortable with paying, there are plenty of options available. With everything you get beyond just the bike, I think it is such a great investment for your physical and emotional wellbeing.
The Peloton Community
I am part of The Morning Toasters Facebook subgroup, and it is amazing to see the little community we have. There are so many options for joining Peloton Facebook groups, you can find your niche. We love to share our favorite rides, give tips, and we even plan community rides. Disclaimer: I am not part of the official Peloton Facebook group, but I did hear it can get a little intense. But we already know how people on the internet can be..
Overall, I am so happy we decided to bring Peloton into our homes. If you are still deciding and have questions, feel free to reach out. And if you are ready to make moves, feel free to use my referral code to get $100 off accessories when you purchase the bike.
