Colorado is back to stay at home orders so Paul and I are doing what we can to minimize the spread of COVID. We spent this weekend hanging out at home and decided to do a fun date night where we cook a 5-course meal for ourselves. We kept the menu pretty simple to avoid spending a ton of money on ingredients that we may only use once (which we did a few times at the beginning of COVID trying to cook new recipes).
I had a little too much fun creating the menu and thinking of creative/weird names for our dishes. Our courses included a cheese and cracker plate, tomato and red pepper soup, a wedge salad, filet mignon and roasted asparagus, and a candy flight to top it off. Paul and I also made a “signature” beverage called the Petrie Paloma.
We had so much fun that we are already planning our next “fancy” dinner at home that will be tapas inspired. Plus we spent less money than if we went out to dinner and drinks, which tends to be a common weekend event for us.
