I actually never thought I would be doing a post about fun things to do indoors while you have COVID, but at last, here we are. Paul and I have been very lucky and stayed healthy throughout the Pandemic.. until two days before Christmas. If you missed my COVID-Christmas update, catch up HERE. After we got back from St Lucia, I got my booster shot and then the news was again filled with all things COVID. I’m not sure where I was exposed, but at this rate, it could have been anywhere. I work from home 100% of the time, but I go to Orange Theory twice a week, shop at the grocery store, eat at restaurants, etc. I also had been downtown the weekend before celebrating a friend’s birthday and while I followed mask protocols doing all the activities listed above, I still got it. Regardless, there is nothing I can do now but recover at home and come up with blog posts! Today, I am sharing 10 fun things you can do at home while you have COVID! I am also going to preface this post by saying what is fun to one person may not be fun to someone else. Fun is subjective, so if you don’t get pleasure from rearranging you dresser, here is your chance to exit out of this tab.
#1: Whip out an old computer game: My game of choice has been the Sims 4. I am the farthest thing from a video gamer and actually don’t care for games in general (sorry not sorry). But growing up, my sister and I loved the Sims and I have gone through phases as I got older where I will play it randomly. As we were driving home from my COVID test on Christmas Eve, I got the sudden urge to download the Sims again. It’s been a fun way to mindlessly kill a few hours.
#2: Do a puzzle: Paul and I aren’t big puzzle-people, but we borrowed one from my sister a few weeks back and spent an afternoon working on it and dare I say had some fun. We don’t have any on hand at the house, but if we did, I think it would be a great way to keep busy.
#3: Plan a trip: Obviously when you no longer have COVID… But after being stuck in the house for 10 days, it may be a fun idea to plan your next trip so you have something to look forward to. It doesn’t have to be a grand vacation to Europe, but a weekend trip to a fun destination is just what the doctor ordered.
#4: Get Organized: I have a few drawers in my bathroom calling my name. Like I said in the intro, fun is subjective so if organizing your bathroom drawers isn’t fun to you, skip ahead.
#5: Try a new recipe: Head to Pinterest and look up yummy recipe inspiration. And thankfully we live in the 21st century where we can Amazon fresh the ingredients right to our front door.
#6: Have a self-care day: I’m talking bubble baths, DIY manicures, and face masks. I have like 25 face masks from Christmas stockings calling my name so I’ll definitely be putting those to use over the next few days.
#7: Facetime a friend/family member: If you are alone with COVID, I highly recommend chatting with friends and family daily. Even with Paul here, I feel very isolated, so it is important to still be social even if you can’t be face to face.
#8: Make a fort in your living room and watch movies: You don’t even need to go all out, but Paul and I like to put a ton of pillows and blankets on the floor in front of the TV and watch movies with snacks and yummy drinks. Sure we could sit on the couch and do the same thing, but that’s not as fun.
#9: Clean out your closet: I featured this one in my New Year’s Resolutions post, but what is a better time to clean out your closet than after Christmas and while you are home with nothing else to do? Plus you can make some extra cash by selling clothes you no longer wear on Poshmark!
#10: Start a blog: Or if you already have a blog, plan and create content! I love that I have Miss Olivia Says as a creative outlet, especially during times like this. If you are hesitant about creating a blog, here is your sign to just do it!
