No, my blog did not turn into a travel review site. You read the title right, I’m switching things up with an OG beauty post here on Miss Olivia Says. I understand we still have half of December left, but I wanted to share my current beauty favorites any ways.
ILIA Super Serum Skin Tint: I actually didn’t love this product when I first tried it. I originally purchased it for my trip to Hawaii last March as a light coverage tinted moisturizer with sunscreen and was initially turned off by it because it goes on very oily. I ended up not using it much after my trip and decided to give it a second chance on our recent St. Lucia vacation. I saw on the ILIA social media the product being applied with hands rather than a brush so I tried it out. I feel like by using my hands, it helped absorb it into my skin better than a brush. I also set it with my Maybelline New York Matte powder and I loved how my skin was glowing, yet not oily.
Essie Wild Nude Nail Polish + Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Clear Polish: I rarely get my nails done at a salon and when I do, I tend to just get a pedicure. Don’t get me wrong, I love the way a nice gel manicure looks, but I get so bored sitting in the salon chair plus my nails never end up lasting as long as I would hope for the money spent. Prior to my St. Lucia trip, I treated myself to a gel manicure 5 days before we left and my nails were already chipping the second day of our trip (aka only 1 week from when I got them done). I was applying lotion to my hands like crazy because apparently that helps gel manicures last, but it didn’t work. Needless to say, I wanted another manicure when I returned with bare nails, but I did not want to pay for one any time soon. Instead, I picked up a fall/winter inspired Essie polish color and Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Clear polish from Target. That afternoon I relaxed on the couch and decided to take my time and do my own nails. Typically, I rush through DIY manicures and I was pleasantly surprised with how my nails turned out when I don’t try and clean the house while my nails are still drying. Anyway, that was the longest paragraph for me to just say I recommend these products. Moving on….
Maybelline New York Matte + Poreless Fit Me Pressed Powder: I have likely shared this product on my blog before, so here we go again. I have been purchasing the Maybelline Matte powder for years, and I refuse to deviate. I have tried more expensive powders from Sephora, but I cannot justify paying more than $10 for this type of product when Maybelline has this staple. I even carry a second in my purse for touch ups on the go.
Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil: Basically ditto to what I said about Maybelline. The Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil is definitely more expensive than a drugstore option, but when something is working for me, I find it hard to venture out. I have naturally big and bushy brows, so this product helps add shape. I feel like my eyebrows look wild without a morning brush and shape, so if even I am going makeup-less, I definitely still use this product to tame the brows.
Comment down below what your recent beauty favorites are! Or better yet, send me your tips to keep a $40 gel manicure from lasting longer than a week.
