Juliana visits!
One of my longest friends, Juliana, visited me in early April. It had been close to a year and a half since we had seen each other so it was long overdue. Juliana is one of those friends where nothing changes, even if it has been what seems like forever since you’ve seen each other. We also Marco Polo 1-2 times a week, so we always know what’s going on in each other’s lives. I don’t love texting, so Marco Polo is a fun way to keep in touch with long distance friends.
Juliana arrived Friday night so we kept it low key after a long travel day. On Saturday, we went to Golden, Colorado for brunch at Bridgewater Grill before heading to Boulder with Paul. We explored Pearl Street, the local Farmer’s Market, and stopped at Trader Joe’s on the way home. We spontaneously decided to get pedicures before making homemade crunch-wrap supremes and watching a movie. On Sunday, Paul went to play golf and we decided to do a craft. We drove to Michael’s where we picked out birdhouses to paint. The day concluded with a quick 9 holes at the golf club and tacos on Paul’s Blackstone grill. On Monday, we both worked remotely before taking her to the airport.
A visit to my hometown
My mom and I flew to my hometown of Davis, California where my grandparents and great grandma live. It was a quick trip, but it was still good to see my family after way too long. We went to my favorite pizza place, watched Jeopardy with Meme (my great grandma), drove around our old stomping grounds, had a yummy taco night, and enjoyed the warm weather. Fun fact, Meme turns 103 this November and still lives on her own.
Golf, golf, and more golf
I got really into golf about 4 years ago and I am completely obsessed. It is challenging, frustrating, and borderline self sabotage, yet I find myself wanting to play ALL THE TIME. I’m addicted to seeing myself improve, plus it is such a fun activity to do with Paul, family and friends. Paul had a few work trips in April, so I spent some afternoons after work practicing bunker shots with my dad. We even went out and played 9 holes one of the days.
The weather was so-so throughout April, which allowed us to even get a few weekend rounds in!
Dinner with friends
One of our ‘Dinner Club’ friends celebrated his birthday at Water Grill, which is one of our absolute favorite spots. (Dinner Club is the “monthly” tradition we do with a few friends where each month one of the three couples pick a new restaurant for us to try). We went to Reynard Social for pre-dinner drinks and then enjoyed a 3 hour dinner at Water Grill. I got my usual Lobster Roll and had my fair share of oysters. The only con of the evening was both the Nuggets and Rockies games ended at the same time as dinner. It took quite some time to find a Uber home and I had a tee time I needed to get a solid night’s sleep for 😆
