I’ve been meaning to post my travel review from our trip to Le Blanc Cancun for almost two months now, but time got away from me. Regardless, it is better late than never and I am so excited to share my thoughts from our vacation to Le Blanc. I’ll start off by saying this was our favorite all-inclusive resort. We’ve been fortunate to have experienced a handful of all-inclusive hotels and Le Blanc blows them all out of the water. Expect paying a little more than your run of the mill Mexico all inclusive, but for me and Paul, it was 100% worth it.
In case you’re interested, I made two vlogs from our trip. You can catch up on those here and here!
First Impressions
After a long travel day due to snowy weather in Denver, we were greeted at the Cancun airport with a private transfer to the hotel. We decided to upgrade from a shared shuttle to a private transfer as it was relatively reasonable to have your own ride compared to waiting for a handful of other travelers. The only negative about Le Blanc was our check-in experience. Once we checked-in (30 minutes or so after we arrived), we were forced to go speak with the “concierge”. At first, I thought it would be a standard conversation about amenities, things to do in Cancun, excursions, etc, but I soon realized it was nothing of the sort. Similar to our trip to Secrets Cabo last year, Le Blanc has program that is essentially a time share. After an uncomfortable 15 minutes of the employee trying to convince us to join her at breakfast to share more details at about the program, we finally got away and headed to our room. Fair warning, they offer resort credit if you attend the breakfast, however, there are so many stipulations as to what you can use the credit for that it is not worth it in my opinion. Only attend the breakfast if you are actually interested in joining their travel program.
Our room
We were very pleased with our room. It was a standard ocean view on the sixth floor. The room was bright, spacious, and more importantly, clean. There was a mini fridge stocked with beer, sodas, juice and water as well as a snack drawer and liquor dispenser. Although we did not partake in the liquor dispenser, we had housekeeping replenish our snacks, sodas, beer and water each day.
Butler service
Something to note about Le Blanc is every room includes a butler. Each floor of the resort has assigned butlers that are responsible for the rooms. There is also an app you can download upon check-in where you have access to details about the resort, restaurant reservations, maps, calendar of activities, room service, and butler assistance. We enjoyed the turn down service feature where we could select timing, diffuser scents, and even the draw a bath feature. Our butler also helped us make a reservation on day one, and ensured we had our return transfers lined up when it was time to depart.
The food
One of the highlights of Le Blanc is the food. I feel like all-inclusive resorts have the reputation of the food being just ok due to the amount of options. Everywhere we dined was absolutely delicious, and while there aren’t excess restaurant options, I think that contributes to the quality. Our favorite was the Japanese restaurant, but every dish we had from pool bar food to room service was top-notch.
The pools & beach
Our biggest pet peeve when going on a relaxing vacation is not being able to find a pool chair. When planning our trip to Mexico this year, we wanted to avoid resorts where it is a war zone to find a chair each day (cough cough Secrets Cabo). Our travel agent (Lisa with Lisa’s Dream Destinations) did research for us up front to determine which resorts would make sense based on our preference and she found that Le Blanc excelled in this area. While I can’t attest to other times of the year, when we went in late November, the busiest day was our first full day, which was the tail end of the Thanksgiving travelers (notoriously one of the busiest times to travel). Expect the chairs around the main pool to fill up pretty quickly, but you will be able to find a spot at one of the pools or beach relatively easily.
We found what we called the secret pool on day three of our vacation, which is nestled on the side of the resort. Each time we walked to our room, we noticed this pool and figured it was a neighboring resort. But alas, it is literally on the resort map, and we ended up spending a lot of time there. If you visit Le Blanc, expect the most crowds at the main pool and the beach.
Our travel agent also scored us a free day in a beach cabana, which we used right away. The cabana came with an attendant, bottle of premium champagne, and extra lounge chairs if we preferred to sit in the sun. This was definitely a highlight of the trip.
Overall thoughts
It is rare that when a vacation is coming to an end that Paul and I are not ready to go home. However, this time around, we had the vacation blues when it was time to pack up and fly back to Denver. Our trip to Mexico this time around was shorter (5 days instead of 7) so that likely was a factor, but most of all, Le Blanc was so relaxing and amazing that it made it hard to go back to reality.
Our travel agent Lisa organized our Le Blanc vacation and ensured our trip was 10/10 (we even had a treat from her delivered on day two of our trip).
