As we get ready to meet our baby, one of the most exciting (and honestly, a little overwhelming) parts of this journey has been designing the nursery. I wanted a space that felt calm, cozy, and fun—but also practical. After weeks of researching, I’m finally putting the finishing touches on the basics of the room, and I’m excited to share the main pieces we purchased. Side note: I have a baby registry and some key items like bedding, decor, etc. are included on that for my baby shower. For this post in particular, I am sharing the furnishings only, as we purchased these items ahead of time.
If you’re also working on your nursery or just in need of some inspiration, I hope these ideas help you create the perfect space!
1. Pottery Barn Kids Evelyn Blackout Panels
Sleep is on everyone’s mind with a new baby, and I am mentally preparing myself as much as possible. With that in mind, even though the baby will be in our room the first 6 or so months, I purchased the Evelyn Blackout Panels from Pottery Barn Kids to ensure his room is as dark as possible for nap time. I went with the soft neutral color to match the rest of the room, and they do such a great job at blocking out light.

2. Crate & Barrel Babyletto Kiwi Glider Recliner Chair
I knew I wanted a comfy chair for feedings, snuggles, and maybe some late-night scrolling through Instagram. I ended up going with the Babyletto Kiwi Glider Recliner from Crate & Barrel and it is perfect. Minus the fact that FedEx dropped the box on our driveway and cracked the base, so we had to work with Crate & Barrel for a reshipment. But even with the delay, C&B shipping and customer service is way better than Pottery Barn (more on that soon).
The chair has a light gray and white strip design with a natural wood base. Plus, there is a USB port, while not crucial, it is definitely a plus.

3. Pottery Barn Kids Kendall Fixed Gate Crib in Seadrift
The crib is obviously the most important piece of the nursery. I wanted something that was both functional and beautiful, so I went with the Kendall Fixed Gate Crib in Seadrift from Pottery Barn Kids. Our neighbors also gave us their old Kendall Crib in White, which we brought to my parent’s house for babysitting. It is sturdy and safe, which is very important 😉 Plus, it has the option to convert to a toddlers bed, so it is a piece that will grow with our family in the years to come.

4. Pottery Barn Kids Extra-Wide Kendall Dresser & Changing Table Topper
When it comes to nursery furniture, practicality is key. The Extra-Wide Kendall Dresser & Changing Table Topper will be a game changer. Not only will it give me plenty of storage for all of the baby’s stuff (because, let’s be honest, they come with a LOT of things), but it also doubles as a changing table.
Unfortunately, Pottery Barn has crazy shipping lead times and even though we placed the order for the dresser and crib in December, expected arrival is currently March 6-26th. Thank goodness for my type-A personality, because if we waited closer to our due date to order, the items likely would not be here in time.

5. Etsy Golf-Themed Nursery Prints
Finally, I wanted to add a personal touch to the room ⛳️ . I found these adorable golf-themed printable art on Etsy, which we plan on hanging them over the dresser. The rest of the decor will likely be animal themed, so I think a little sprinkle of golf will add some of our family’s personality to the room.

Bringing It All Together
Designing this nursery has been such a fun (and expensive) process. From finding the perfect furniture to adding those personal touches, it has been exciting to see come together. I will include actual pictures of the room in a more formalized post once everything is here and I have time to add the finishing touches.
